National Rail explainer animation
An explainer animation for Rail Delivery Group and National Rail, created to communicate who RDG are and how their work supports the wider rail network.
The film needed to simplify a complex system into a clear 90-second piece, showing how different services, data and behind-the-scenes processes help passengers plan journeys, find routes, reserve seats, track information and travel more easily.
The animation had to visualise abstract or hidden processes in a way that felt simple, branded and easy to follow. Working within the National Rail colour palette, the piece uses clean transitions, symbolic systems and character-led moments to make the information feel more digestible.
The project also involved careful back and forth around representation and accessibility, both in how people were shown on screen and how the videos communicated information clearly. Alongside the main animation, I created four cutdowns with additional transitions and adapted sections for shorter uses.
