Short film
An in-house short film created at Diva Creative for Wunderkammer, developed as a chance to explore a more cinematic and narrative-led style of animation.
The piece follows a small mouse through a softly lit, atmospheric world, with detailed painted backgrounds, expressive character animation and a stronger focus on mood, pacing and visual storytelling.
I wanted the film to feel more tactile and cinematic than a typical motion design piece, using layered lighting, painted environments and frame-by-frame character animation to create a sense of depth and atmosphere within After Effects.
The project involved solving a lot of practical animation problems, from staging and lighting shots to combining hand-drawn character movement with composited backgrounds. I developed the concept, storyboarded the film, created the assets, handled the rigging, animation, edit and sound design, with the rough first pass of the mouse animation by Lock Cheung.
